Victoria Faiella- To Be My Man

Happy Valentine’s Day! This month on SpotonLI.com we will be showcasing our favorite, ‘Sexy Song of the Week!’ This week’s song is “To Be My Man” by Victoria Faiella. Victoria is a sultry singer that has toured with many artists including Enrique Iglesias. She is also a creative songwriter that plays percussion and guitar. Her new CD Wild Butterfly produced by Barry Hartglass will be in stores soon and will feature Victoria’s best songs including an incredible rendition of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and of course “To Be My Man”.

The Inspiration

To Be My Man is a little ditty advising all those smooth talkers that “it takes more than words to be my man.” Although it’s meant to be fun & sassy, the underlying message is definitely one of self-empowerment and that lip service alone is simply not enough to sustain a relationship….be it with a man or with a woman!

Instead of taking the song in a “neo-soul” direction we decided to produce it in a way that created a sound uniquely my own by recording three different basses (Double, Electric and Fretless) as the main musical foundation. The addition of background vocals, snaps, claps and my attempt at a pseudo-beatboxing track completes the instrumentation. Having three of my favorite bass players under one roof made recording this song not only a memorable session but a truly special experience!- Victoria Faiella
